Maptivate presents at the ACT Geospatial Conference
Maptivate’s Managing Director, Chris Bulford, and Senior GIS Analyst, Michael Cushen, present at this year’s Geospatial Conference in Canberra, hosted by the Geospatial Council of Australia.
The Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) is the peak body representing the interests of organizations and individuals, including new and emerging professionals, working in the vast range of occupations for surveying, space, and spatial in the digital world. The 2024 ACT Geospatial Conference took place on November 21, 2024, at the Mercure Belconnen in Canberra. The event provided professionals in the geospatial sector with an opportunity to explore the latest technologies, trends, and best practices shaping the industry in Australia.
It covered a wide range of topics relevant to the geospatial industry, allowing attendees to enhance their understanding of innovative developments in the field. The conference served as a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and showcasing advancements in geospatial technologies, contributing to the growth and development of the geospatial community in Australia.
Chris and Michael presented Maptivate in an invigorating session called “Bring Your Story Alive with Digital Mapping” - important topic that demonstrates the power of combining mapping with narrative text and multimedia content to tell impactful stories and incite curiosity, exploration and stakeholder engagement.
There is also a growing emphasis on using GIS-powered storytelling to champion environmental and social causes, and to bring strategy documents to life to lobby for change and encourage and incite community engagement.
